History
My Grandma Margarita was a fighter. After my grandpa passed away, leaving her with 8 kids (of 16) to care for, she found creative ways to provide for them, even during tough times when money was scarce.
She started a small stationary store, involving her children as employees, which allowed her to spend more time with them.
Despite financial struggles, she never let her children feel the hardship. They fondly remember the simple meals she made with corn flour, unaware that it was often all she could afford.
Her strength and love made their home a happy place, despite the challenges.
Margarita St. George, a woman of exceptional customer service, learned business skills in her family's jewelry business in Mexico before moving to Canada in 2008 and gained experience in retail management across various sectors in Alberta.
After facing unexpected challenges in Mexico as a single mother, I returned to Canada and started Margarita Boutique Company in 2023, inspired by my grandmother's resilience. We support single parents by selling handmade products, providing them with a source of income for their families' needs.
Our boutique offers unique, quality handmade pieces with a touch of Mexican flair. Each item is crafted with care and dedication, representing the strength and creativity of single parents in our community. Supporting Single Parents
Margarita Boutique Company is a center for Mexican artisans - single parents to gather and distribute their art, increasing their income to provide for their families.
We aim to create job opportunities for single parents, allowing them to work from home and spend quality time with their children.
In Mexico, many single parents rely on a single income due to various reasons such as the other parent being deceased or absent. Unlike in Canada, we do not have government support programs like the CCB.
Margarita Boutique Company was created many years ago but was recently founded in April 2023 to provide support for as many single parents and their families as possible.
Single parents face numerous challenges, including:
1. Financial Strain: Managing household expenses, childcare costs, and providing for the family on a single income can be financially demanding.
2. Time Management: Balancing work responsibilities with childcare duties, household chores, and personal needs can be overwhelming, leaving little time for self-care or relaxation.
3. Emotional Stress: Coping with the emotional toll of separation or loss, while also supporting children through these transitions, can be emotionally taxing for single parents.
4. Lack of Support: Single parents often lack the support network available to two-parent households, leading to feelings of isolation and loneliness.
5. Juggling Multiple Roles: Single parents must fulfill multiple roles as breadwinners, caregivers, disciplinarians, and emotional supports, which can be mentally and physically exhausting.
6. Limited Resources: Accessing affordable childcare, healthcare, housing, and educational opportunities may be challenging for single parents with limited financial resources.
7. Career Advancement: Balancing career aspirations with parenting responsibilities can hinder single parents' ability to pursue career advancement or higher education opportunities.
8. Guilt and Pressure: Single parents may experience feelings of guilt or pressure to provide everything for their children, leading to stress and burnout.
